Montfrin la Tour
Rouge 2021

Specifications

Organic & vegan

Grape:
Shiraz 60%, Grenache 30%, Cabernet Sauvignon 10%.

Ground:
Würmiennes and holocene alluviums composed of sand and silt, near the Rhone and the Gardon.
These deep soils help guarantee an adequate level of performance for the desired profile of the wine, the production of juicy grapes. In summer, sea mists and breezes come inland right along the Costières area. The moderating effect of these breezes boosts the temperature variations between day and night, which is acknowledged as a way of retaining freshness and fruit purity in the wines. In addition, the ‘Mistral’ north wind is also advantageous to vine health.

Viticulture:
The yields were 80 hectoliters per hectare. The vines are trellised as double cordon, so the bunches are spread out and get better aeration and direct sun exposure. Cordon spur pruning is better for quality by limiting yields and vine vigour. This pruning method is a good compromise in our region to ensure we get the required yields – the grapes should be juicy to express their full aromatic potential – while making sure the vines are well aerated, an indispensable factor for getting wholesome grapes. This spur-pruning method using a high trellis allows us to pick mechanically; the harvest takes place in the early hours to make the most of the cool nights and thereby preserving the full aromatic potential.

Elaboration:
Fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks.

Alcohol:
13,5 ° vol

Tasting note: Deep crimson colour. Explosive nose with red fruit cocktail, tangy blackcurrant and violet. Juicy and fleshy mouth-feel, fruity and refreshing.
